A significant example of 12th-century architecture, the Badia di San Lorenzo is a historic building that testifies to the key role assumed by Benedictine monks in the area.

It is due to the commitment of the Benedictine monks of the Vallalta monastery, near Bergamo, to build the Badia di S. Lorenzo. Called to Trento in 1146 by Bishop Altemanno, the Lombard religious dedicated themselves to the construction of the church over the following decades. The fascinating appearance of the building catches the eye from the first impact. The main façade shows an interesting portal surmounted by a triple lancet window with two Romanesque bas-reliefs on the sides. The apse is also Romanesque, while the bell tower, built much later, dates back to the 18th century. Really valuable, inside, the decorative style of the cross vault frescoed with red and blue stars in white and supported by four columns with a Romanesque capital.
