A monument of high artistic value that celebrates Cesare Battisti, a key figure in Trentino and Italian history. Follow the path inside the mausoleum and discover the stages of his life.

On 12 July 1916, Cesare Battisti, a symbol of Italian irredentism in Trentino, was executed in the courtyard of the Castello del Buonconsiglio after a conviction for high treason. To celebrate the figure, Veronese architect Ettore Fagioli designed this majestic monument in classic style, inaugurated in 1935. The mausoleum is imposing with sixteen columns, more than ten metres high, forming a circular crown with the altar on which the large commemorative tomb area rests in the centre. Three large openings lead to the interior of the monument, where the cell guarding the ark with the remains of Battisti is located. Here, through photos and documents, you can travel through the stages of his life: family, studies, political commitment, war and trial with its tragic epilogue.
